Biblical Background The theme of this song is in reference to 2 Corinthians 3:17. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. However, as with most scripture, this can be taken out of context if you only read one verse.  When read out of context it might seem like we should do whatever we want to do and the freedom is a freedom to sin, to act crazy, to be offensive, etc... Taking the phrase out of context like this would not match up with the rest of the passage of scripture and would also not match up with the rest of the song.  I would highly recommend reading the full thought that the Apostle Paul is writing here in 2 Corinthians 3:7-18. 7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that brou...
